Meet the HBIC

I’m Libby, creator of Boys Don’t Like Funny Girls.

Hello, It’s me.

Although I’m incredibly thin skinned to the point where I’ve often been mistaken as a 5 ft 7 preemie, I’ve decided to throw caution to the wind and put myself out there yet again on my latest blog venture, Boys Don’t Like Funny Girls.

Likes: Sugar, cats, head-to-toe black ensembles, history podcasts, reading, vodka, hair capes, kids in hats with animal ears, humility and bread.

Dislikes: Animal cruelty, slow walkers, people who run for pleasure (a purposeful walk is all anyone needs in life!), my impending diabetes diagnosis, bullying and any Shonda Rhymes show after it’s third season.

When did you start blogging?

I began blogging seven years ago. I was knee- deep in work and school, and needed to do something creative and fun. I began blogging about pop culture and relationships and began to build friendships with other bloggers. It was my little escape!

What did you go to school for?

I did my undergrad in Religious Studies at McMaster University. The program was the perfect blend of philosophy, history and comparative literature. I also have a post-grad from McMaster in Public Relations because I saw an episode of Scandal and thought, “Looks easy.”

Who are your favourite funny girls?

Sandra Bullock, Fran Drescher, Melissa McCarthy, Joan Rivers, June Diane Raphael, Casey Wilson, Bea Arthur, Mindy Kaling, Roseanne Barr and Tina Fey (just to name a few).

What are your favourite websites?

My morning routine consists of checking Jezebel, Washington Post, BuzzFeed, Oh No They Didnt! and The Cut.

What is your guilty pleasure?

The Bachelor/Bachelorette franchise…and I’m not even sorry.

Is that your real hair?
